My ideas and opinions

I will do the following if elected to the Board of Education:

• Evaluate and review all contracts to ensure prices being paid for services are fair and justified.
• Propose new ways for monitoring the effectiveness of teachers. Not all students test well and not all students respond the same to the curriculum available.
• Allow the teachers to spend more time on teaching and allow the teachers to take back their classrooms.
• With the budget being trimmed last year, many are saying the next round will include teacher layoffs. I believe there still is room for other cuts before the teachers and immediate classrooms are affected.
• I guarantee that those who do not directly work with our children will be reviewed first for their effectiveness in serving our children and our district.
• I promise to evaluate each program with a fresh perspective and also with the perspective as a parent. I do have business, budget and committee experience through my many volunteer activities amd professional work in Wichita.
• My greatest asset is that of a Mom to boys in USD 259.
• I promise to be available to all parents, students, teachers, staff members and BOE members.

Education in Wichita

Hello everyone,
Today I am working with Chandra Wenke trying to get our website "Kiefer For Kids" up and running.  I am so excited to get my ideas and opinions out to as many voters as I can. With that in mind, please pass on a link to this page to your friends and family.  The Board of Education has many difficult challenges ahead of them in regards to budget cuts, bond issues, new boundaries, and maintaining diversity within our schools. I really want to be part of those decisions and solutions. As a mother of 3 sons, all these issues will touch me and my family personally.  Also, please "like" my Facebook page, "Susan Kiefer for BOE".  I will be posting updates throughout my campaign and please make it to the polls March 1st to vote for me.
